It’s been more than 16 years since Jim tutored me in math and physics in grade 11, at a time when my grades were starting to slide. His teaching style extends beyond forced memorization of formulas and cracking the text book – there is a genuine desire for you to grasp the concepts. We continued working together through grade 12, which ultimately led me to a degree in mechanical engineering from Queen’s and a career as a professional engineer.
My time with Jim can be considered a long term experiment of his methods, and can honestly say he directly and positively influenced the outcome of my high school & post secondary experience, as well as my career.
Jim”s teaching style is extremely professional. He expects his students to take their lesson time seriously, and in return, Jim helps his students to learn, and master the skills they need to succeed.
My daughter, was tutored by Jim Williams for two years. Both in Physics 20 and Physics 30. She found the physics concepts challenging to say the least. We were thankful to have Jim recommended to us by other Rundle College parents for tutoring. Under Jim’s guidance, her physics knowledge was further cultivated and developed. Her overall mark increased by at least 15%. By the end of grade 12 she was accepted into an honours program through the health sciences at the University of Calgary.
We have to thank Jim for his solid knowledge in the field of physics, friendly teaching method, and sort of tailor-made strategies to cater different students’ needs. All of these helped Samantha to come to this stage. First year University almost completed, and she has been very successful in all aspects!

Jim Williams tutored my son in Pure Math 30, Math 31 and Physics 30 throughout his Grade 12 year. His results were stellar. Seven years later he coached my younger daughter in all aspects of Pure Math 30 and Physics 30. She was definitely the harder sell but having said that Jim got her through with 80+ in her finals.Jim is an excellent tutor. He is knowledgeable in all Math/Physics/Math 31 areas and is able to effectively communicate this expertise. He does however expect his students to work equally hard. I have absolutely no reservations in highly recommending Jim Williams as an excellent tutor.
